Tuesday September 29th The Town of Emmitsburg is holding an election for Mayor and Commissioner. The polls are open from 7am to 8pm at the Emmitsburg Community Building Gymnasium on S. Seton Ave.
Tuesday September 29th Be Emergency Ready at a 911 Simulator Experience from 3:45 to 5:30pm at the Emmitsburg Branch Library. Everyone needs to know about calling 911 in an emergency. What happens when you call? Join experienced emergency personnel at the library for a fun, hands-on program where families can explore the world of emergency communications. Kids will have the opportunity to use a 911 simulator, learn when it’s appropriate to call 911, discover what information to share during an emergency, and see how dispatchers help keep our communities safe. This interactive experience is designed to build confidence, reduce fear, and teach important safety skills in a fun and engaging way. Stick around afterwards and play emergency management Bingo at 6:30pm
Thursday October 1st Enjoy Bluegrass Music on the Deck with Deej Kessinger at the Thurmont Regional library from 6 to 7pm.
Saturday October 3rd The National Apple Harvest Festival returns to the South Mountain Fairgrounds in Arendtsville Pennsylvania from 8am to 6pm. The cost is $15 ages 12 and older, $13 for seniors and military with ID, under age 12 free. Family-friendly activities, hundreds of arts, crafts and specialty vendors, live music and entertainment, agriculture exhibits, food and apples!
Saturday, October 3rd Enjoy Fall Hayrides in the Park with Campfires and S’mores at Cunningham Falls State Park from 11am to 4pm. There is a $5 suggested donation per person. Enjoy the fall foliage “lakeside” while you relax on a hayride through the park. Pick up your hayride voucher and s’mores packet at the Houck Nature Center. Later that evening checkout the Westminster Astronomical Society public Solar viewing at 2pm, followed by a Night Sky viewing from 9 to 11pm. Visitors can meet at the Dam Overlook parking lot to view constellations and planets.
Saturday, October 3rd You are invited to the Frederick Oktoberfest at the Frederick Fairgrounds from 11am to 10pm. The cost is $22 per person. Bring the whole family out to experience authentic German food, traditional German music and dancing at two stages, a sports tent with a big screen, a kids’ zone from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with plenty of arts and crafts, and of course, German-inspired beer and wine for the adults. Frederick County’s German roots is a great excuse to celebrate and help raise money to support multiple local charities.
Sunday, October 4th The U.S. Army Strings will perform in concert at All Saints Episcopal Church in Frederick from 3 to 4:15pm. Continue celebrating America’s 250th Birthday with a free concert presented by the United States Army Strings, a premier ensemble of the U.S. Armed Forces. This event is FREE.
