COMMUNITY CIRCLE EVENT CALENDAR FOR THIS WEEK

You can get a Winter Emergency Food Box at the Emmitsburg 50+ Senior Center to keep on hand in the event of a weather or related emergency. Stop-in and ask the senior center supervisor for your free box of shelf stable food available while supplies last. Each box contains 8 individual servings of vegetables, 8 individual servings of fruit, two cans of tuna, two packs of fully cooked white meat chicken, a jar of peanut butter, a can of spaghetti sauce, a can of black beans, a package of rice, a package of grits or oatmeal, and 3 cartons of shelf stable milk. All food is supplied by the Maryland Food Bank.

The Thurmont Food Bank located on Old Frederick Rd. in the old Town office building near the Hunting Creek bridge opens Tuesdays from 5 to 7pm and Fridays from 4 to 6pm. Tues. 2/27 Please help the Community Blood Drive at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church & American Legion Post 168 in Thurmont from 1-6 p.m.

Fri. 3/1 Checkout the Fish Fry at St. Peter’s Church in Libertytown from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. The cost is $14 per person which includes fried haddock (gluten-free), a choice of two sides: french fries, salad, mac & cheese, coleslaw, or stewed tomatoes and cake and beverage. Kid’s eat for $14 ages 12 and older and $6 ages 5 to 11 with ages 4 and under free. The family rate is $45. Carryouts are available.

Fri. 3/1 The Knights of Columbus invite you to their Lenten Fish Dinner from 5 to 7pm at St. John the Evangelist Church Parish Center Hall in Frederick. The cost is $14 for adults and a child’s plate is $6 There also will be “quick curbside” to-go and the menu includes a baked or fried fish entrée with complementary drink, roll and your choice of 2 sides: fries, homemade mac & cheese, baked potato, steamed vegetables or coleslaw. Fried fish is freshly breaded by us on-site. The edat-in menu includes homemade vegetable soup or salad. Dessert is sold separately. Stations of the Cross will follow in the church at 7 p.m.

Sat. 3/2 Enjoy a Frederick Community College Faculty Recital with Jason Diggs on Viola from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Jack B. Kussmaul (koos mawl) Theater. The event is free. Enjoy a relaxing evening of music with faculty violist Jason Diggs, accompanied by the virtuoso pianist Dr. John Wickelgren with compositions by Debussy, Forsyth, Bruch and Brahms.
