COMMUNITY CIRCLE EVENT CALENDAR FOR THIS WEEK

Its summertime and that means Carnivals and this week we have two to choose from. Monday June 22 through Saturday June 27th the Smithsburg Firemen’s Carnival with entertainment nightly at 7pm and fireworks on Tuesday June 23rd. Rides open from 6 to 10pm with food at 5:30. Also Wednesday June 24th through Saturday June 27 the Harney Volunteer Fire Company Carnival in Taneytown returns with nightly entertainment, inflatable rides & great food.

This Saturday June 27th Join the WTHU team at American Post Legion 168 for the 250th Anniversary celebration of the birth of America & a Community Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. WTHU will broadcast live along with vendors, police demonstrations, a cornhole tournament, the ESP dance team and more. This is a free event and open to the public and our very own WTHU’s Michael Betteridge will sing the National Anthem for the opening ceremony with the Color Guard at 12 noon.

Thursday June 25th Celebrate Frederick announces the 2026 Summerfest Family theater performances at Baker Park bandshell in Frederick with Mr. Jon & Friends, Frederick’s own winning music for kids and their families. Mr. Jon plays over 250 shows a year for kids, sharing the stage with bands like The Pop Ups and The Imagination Movers. Mr. Jon & Friends makes music for kids that inspires fun, laughter, and dancing. Sometimes with a band, sometimes as a duo, and sometimes solo, the music of Mr. Jon & Friends is sure to bring a smile to your face!

Thursday June 25th through Friday June 26th Checkout Vacation Bible School at Weller United Methodist Church in Thurmont from 8 a.m. to noon for grades K through 5. Snacks, fun & games for everyone. This is a free event.

Saturday June 27th Start Emmitsburg Heritage day out right at the Vigilant Hose Breakfast on Creamery Way in Emmitsburg from 7 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The cost is $14 for adults, $7 for ages 6 through 12, and 5 and under free.

Also on Saturday The Emmitsburg Community Heritage Day returns at 11 a.m. at the E. Eugene Myers Memorial Park in Emmitsburg with hayrides & barrel rides, food trucks, Lions chicken barbeque, live music, a beer garden, games, kids’ activities & more. The parade starts at 4:30pm at Mountain View Rd. and the fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.

and finally on Saturday Head over to AMVETS Post 7 on Apples Church Rd. in Thurmont for the Stand Up Comedy Show from 7 to 9 p.m. The cost is $25 per person and tickets are available at the door. This event is sponsored by Thurmont AMVETS & the NAM Knights of America, Battlefield Chapter.

Sunday June 28th Checkout Cash Bingo at the Thurmont Event Complex with the doors opening at 11 a.m. and Bingo starting at 1 p.m. The kitchen opens for regular menu items with Tip jars & Bingo balls games, small & large jackpots. No tickets necessary.
