Continuing with our summer carnival schedule this week Mon. 7/15 through Sat. 7/20 the Urbana Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co. invites you to the carnival grounds in Urbana for fun, food, games, music, rides and more. For more information, go to urbanavfd.com

Sat. 7/20 You are invited to an Ice Cream Social & Book Sale at Blue Ridge Summit Free Library in Blue Ridge Summit, PA. at 9 a.m.

Sat. 7/20 Checkout the Mount Tabor Festival at the Mount Tabor Church Park in Rocky Ridge from 3-8 p.m. with music by the Honky Tonk Twins and food and a yard sale.

Sat. 7/20 Checkout the All You Can Eat Barbeque Ribs, Steamed Shrimp & Wings at the Thurmont Event Complex with the doors opening at 4 p.m. and the food beginning from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $25/person. There will be beer & wine coolers with tip jars & 50/50. Proceeds all go to benefit the Thurmont Community Ambulance Service.

Sun. 7/21 There will be Cash Bingo at Woodsboro American Legion at Noon.

This week in the summer carnival series you can head down Route 15 to Jefferson Maryland for the Jefferson Ruritan Carnival Mon. 7/22 through Sat. 7/22 featuring rides, games, music, entertainment and their legendary food platters. Check it out folks! This is one of the best every summer….

Mon. 7/22 through Fri. 7/27 There will be a School Supply Drive sponsored by realtor Beth Ohler of J&B Real Estate in Thurmont collecting back to school supplies for kids in the Catoctin & Walkersville feeder patterns. You can drop-off donations at J&B Real Estate’s Thurmont and Walkersville location, Thurmont Kountry Kitchen, the Jubilee in Emmitsburg, Kelco Plumbing on Carroll Ave. in Thurmont or the Emmitsburg Vigilant Hose Co.

Mon. 7/22 Learn about the Secrets of the Catoctin Mountains with James Rada Jr. at the Emmitsburg Senior Center at 1 p.m.

Mon. 7/22 The Community Clothes Closet at Thurmont United Methodist Church reopens from 6-7:30 p.m. with free clothing for men, women & children.

Mon. 7/22 Checkout the GO Team Therapy Dogs at the Thurmont Regional Library at 6 p.m.

Thurs. 7/25 The Thurmont Grange invites you to their fundraiser at Roy Rogers in Thurmont with a Bake Sale from 4:30-8 p.m. All purchases will go to support the Grange.

Thurs. 7/25 Once again the Women’s Bible Study will meet at Thurmont United Methodist Church from 9:30-11 a.m. and then from 5-8pm there will be over an 40 Self-Defense & Taekwondo Class.

Sat. 7/27 Enjoy Reading with Heiress with a Live Animal Event at the Thurmont Regional Library at 11 a.m.

Sat. 7/27 The Rocky Ridge Volunteer Fire Co. invites you to their drive-thru Chicken BBQ from 11 a.m. until the chicken is all gone. The cost is $13 per person and you get a quarter chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, applesauce & dinner roll. You can purchase a cold drink for $1. For more information, go to rockyridgevfc.com

Sat. 7/27 You are invited to the Concert on the Hill Featuring The Hyssongs at Tom’s Creek United Methodist Church’s park: The Promised Land off Route 140 in Emmitsburg. This is a free concert with a free meal. The food is served at 4:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome; Bring your lawn chairs & enjoy the music. Sat. 7/27 Thurmont’s own Forever Young Dale & Kip Young will perform at the Old Cider Press in Smithsburg featuring: You’re Lookin’ at Country – “A Country Variety Show,” The cost is $20/person and the doors open at 5 p.m. with the show running from 6-8 p.m. There will be concessions available with BBQ, a baked potato bar, snacks & soda.
