COMMUNITY CIRCLE EVENT CALENDAR FOR THIS WEEK

Cunningham Falls State Park is now hiring lifeguards for the summer season. If you are a young person looking for that perfect summer job just go online to jobaps.com/md to sign up. These lifeguarding positions are being offered by the Maryland Park Service.

There will be six Easter Egg Hunts in our community starting Sat. 4/12 with the Easter Egg Hunt at American Legion Post 168 Pavilion in Thurmont at 1 p.m.; the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Thurmont United Methodist Church. Registration starts at noon. There will be food, music, games & fun. Bring your own basket; the Spring Fling & Egg Roll at Rose Hill Manor Park in Frederick from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The cost is $5/person and you can meet the Easter Bunny, enjoy games, visit animals, hay rides & much more; Sun. 4/13 Checkout the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at E. Eugene Myers Community Park in Emmitsburg. The fun starts at 1 p.m.; enjoy the Sunday Easter Fun Fest at Weller United Methodist Church from noon to 2pm with an egg roll, scavenger hunt, games, petting animals, face painting and a visit from the Easter Bunny; and finally checkout the Palm Sunday Easter Egg Hunt & Meal at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Smithsburg after their 11 a.m. Worship Service.

The following Holy Week services will take place in our community: Mon. 4/14 through Fri. 4/18 You are invited to Holy Week Services at Graceham Moravian Church at 7 p.m.; Thurs. 4/17 there will be a Maundy Thursday service at Mt. Moriah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sabillasville at 6 p.m. with dinner with Holy Communion and the stripping of the altar; Tom’s Creek United Methodist Church in Emmitsburg will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 7pm; Harriet Chapel will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 7pm; Trinity Evangelical Church in Taneytown will hold a Good Friday service at 7pm; Harriet Chapel will hold their Good Friday service at 7pm; there will be a Journey to the Cross at Deerfield United Methodist Church in Sabillasville at 7:30 p.m.; Thurmont United Methodist Church invites you to their Good Friday Service w/Guest Speaker Elizabeta Karp from the Chosen People Ministries at 7 p.m.; Weller United Methodist Church will hold their Good Friday service at 7pm; St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Smithsburg will hold their Good Friday service at 7pm.

Here are your Easter Sunday 4/20 services around the community: There will be a Sunrise service at the Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes near the Mount at 6:30 a.m.; Thurmont United Methodist Church will hold a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday school at 9 a.m. traditional worship at 9 a.m. and contemporary worship at 10:30 a.m.; Graceham Moravian Church invites you to their sunrise service at 6 a.m. and lovefeast at 7:30 a.m.; Weller United Methodist church will hold their two Easter services at 8:30 & 10:30 a.m.; Mt. Moriah Evangelical Lutheran church will hold their sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. with a free breakfast afterwards and then their Easter service at 9 a.m.; St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Smithsburg’s service will take place at 11 a.m.; Tom’s Creek United Methodist church will hold their sunrise service at the Grotto and their Easter service in the church in Emmitsburg at 9 a.m.; Harriet Chapel’s Easter service will take place at 9 a.m.; Deerfield United Methodist Church in Sabillasville will hold their Easter morning service at 10:30 a.m.; Mt. Zion United Methodist sunrise service at 7a.m with breakfast afterwards and then the regular service at 9 a.m.

Tues. 4/15 The Clothes Closet at Thurmont United Methodist Church reopens from 10-11:30 a.m. with free clothing for men, women & children and emergency needs services for all.

Wed. 4/16 Thurmont AMVETS Post 7 Ladies Auxiliary invites you to play Bingo at 5 p.m.

Thurs. 4/17 There will be a Potluck Senior Lunch for those 55 and older at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Sabillasville at 11:30 a.m.

Fri. 4/18 Head over to American Legion Post 168 for Ham & Turkey Night & Easter Cake Silent Auction and then on Sat. 4/19 there will be a Cornhole tournament at 11 a.m. The cost is $20 per person and the bags fly at noon. All proceeds go to benefit Catoctin High School Safe & Sane.

Sat. 4/19 You are invited to play Easter Cash Bingo at the Rocky Ridge Vol. Fire Co. with the doors opening at 11 a.m. and the games starting at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $25/person. Food will be available for purchase.

Sat. 4/19 There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at the Thurmont Event Complex at 1 p.m. with a visit from the Easter Bunny.
