COMMUNITY CIRCLE EVENT CALENDAR FOR THIS WEEK

Sat. 11/16 and Sun. 11/17 There will be a Thurmont Christmas Market Craft & Vendor Show at the Thurmont Event Complex from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with food available for purchase sponsored by the Thurmont Ambulance Co.

For the next week, volunteers are preparing to collect Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts during National Collection Week, Mon 11/18 through Mon. 11/25. More than 4,700 drop-off locations will open across the country in November. The local shoebox gift drop off location in our region is First Baptist Church of Thurmont located on Sunny Way. You can also build your own shoebox online at samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/buildonline For more information go to samaritanspurse.org Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has been collecting and delivering gift-filled shoeboxes to children including many who are suffering from war, poverty, disease and disaster. Operation Christmas Child hopes to reach another 12 million children in 2024 with the hope of Jesus.

Tues. 11/19 The Thurmont United Methodist Clothes Closet reopens from 10-11:30 a.m. with free clothing for men, women, & children and help for those with emergency needs as well.

Thurs. 11/21 The Maryland Writer’s Association invites all teens to a Teen Writer’s Club at the Emmitsburg Branch Library at 5:30 p.m.

Fri. 11/22 Checkout the Annual Stamp Mapping in the Town of Thurmont. Pick up your map at Cousins Ace Hardware, The Dirty Dawg Dog Wash or Studio 24E. Return your completed maps to the Guardian Hose Co. on Dec. 7 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and be a part of the prize drawings for kids and adults at 5 p.m. You must be present to win!

Fri. 11/22 through Sun. 11/24 Attention holiday shoppers! You are invited to the Maryland Christmas Show, Maryland’s Premier Christmas Event at the Frederick County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children. Parking is $2 per car. Only the top artists and craftsmen, wreaths and garlands, toys, Christmas ornaments will be available For more information go to marylandchristmasshow.com

Sat. 11/23 The Town of Thurmont wants you to put our your pumpkins on the curb for The Great Pumpkin Pick Up, Town of Thurmont residents only. Please have pumpkins ready by 8:30 a.m.

Sat. 11/23 Be a part of something special. Donate blood at the Thurmont United Methodist Church Blood Drive from 9am to 2pm in the Social Hall

Sat. 11/23 There will be Turkey & Grocery Gift Card Bingo at the Mother Seton School in Emmitsburg with the doors opening at noon and the games beginning at 2pm.
