COMMUNITY CIRCLE EVENT CALENDAR FOR THIS WEEK
This week marks the beginning of the Lenten season with 40 days of preparation leading up to Easter. Local churches traditionally empty their larder by serving a hearty dinner on Shrove Tuesday February 17th also known as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras. Here is a list of the local churches participating:
Harriet Chapel 4:30 to 7pm the Pancake Dinner is free but an offering is suggested. They will be serving Plain & blueberry pancakes, sausage patties, strawberries & whipped cream, coffee, tea & juice.
Toms Creek United Methodist Church free Pancake Dinner offering suggested from 5 to 7pm
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Emmitsburg 2nd Annual Fat Tuesday fundraising dinner 4 to 8pm. No pancakes for this one just great New Orleans food. The cost is $14 per person ages 13 and up.
The following churches will be open on Wednesday February 18th for Ash Wednesday:
Harriet Chapel at 7pm and
Thurmont United Methodist Church at 7pm
Saturday February 21st Checkout the All-You-Can-Eat Slippery Pot Pie dinner at the Thurmont Event Complex from 2 to 5 p.m. The cost is $10 per person with ham or chicken pot pies, green beans, coleslaw, a drink & dessert. Carryouts available too at $10 for a dinner or $8 per quart.
Saturday February 21st The Rocky Ridge Volunteer Fire Company’s Country Style Breakfast & Butchering is back with order pickups and breakfast being served from 6 to 10am.
